About Donald Morrill

Donald Morrill is the author of three volumes of poetry, Awaiting Your Impossibilities (2015 Florida Book Award), At the Bottom of the Sky and With Your Back to Half the Day, as well as four books of nonfiction, Impetuous Sleeper, The Untouched Minutes (River Teeth Literary Nonfiction Prize), Sounding for Cool, and A Stranger’s Neighborhood.  His debut novel Beaut received the Lee Smith Novel Prize and was published in 2018 by Blair https://www.blairpub.com/shop/beaut

His work has appeared widely in magazines and journals, and has also received the Emerging Writers of Creative Nonfiction Award from Duquesne University Press, the Mid-List Press First Series Award in Poetry,  the Anne Halley Poetry Prize from The Massachusetts Review and The Missouri Review Editor’s Prize for Nonfiction.

He served as a foreign expert at Jilin University, Peoples’ Republic of China, and as a Fulbright Lecturer at the University of Lodz, Poland. A past board officer of AWP (The Association of Writers and Writing Programs), he has been the Bedell Visiting Writer in the Nonfiction Writing Program at the University of Iowa and Tammis Day Writer-in-residence at the Poetry Center at Smith. He was founder of the Low-Residency MFA at the University of Tampa and served on its faculty.
